Still using Windows 8 or 8.1?

Posted on 14 March 202317 April 2023 By JuliaEEvans No Comments on Still using Windows 8 or 8.1?

If you see the above when you press

Windows logo key (sometimes shows Win)
Windows logo key (sometimes shows Win)

…. then you’ve probably been seeing messages advising you that your version of Windows is NOT supported anymore like this:

Alert screen from Windows 8
Alert screen from Windows 8

You can:-

A. Consider buying a new PC which comes with Windows 11 (occasionally it may come with 10 and prompt/allow you to upgrade it to 11)

B. Ignore the message and continue using your PC with the greatly increased risks involved – I would discourage the use of any internet shopping, banking and using an email client – web-based mail is safest

3. Ask Julia to review whether your PC is worth upgrading to Windows 10 or 11 from as little as £60

Would you like advice on how to proceed?

Whichever option you end up going for, I can help you to protect your precious files – either ‘in the cloud’ OR on a USB hard drive (memory sticks aren’t reliable enough in my experience).
